This role is an ideal opportunity for a
confident, well organised and commercially aware StruCad detailer with
experience of working within the structural steelwork industry.
Touchline Fabrications is a busy family
owned company with purpose built fabrication facility in Preston Lancashire. The
successful candidate will be required to manage the drawing duties for typical
small to mid size commercial, industrial and public sector projects through to
and including the detailing of small architectural steelwork projects.
The successful candidate will have
excellent communication skills and with the support of existing staff members
will be expected to ensure the smooth flow of information from the drawing
office to the relevant departments or third parties, including the
subcontracting of detailing work where necessary.

Carlisle. We take on a wide variety of contracts ranging from feature staircases
up to new university developments; our contracts range from 10 - 300 tonnes. We

The Position
The Steelwork Designer Engineer will work in the Design Department to provide
structural designs and calculations for a wide range of building structures and
to give structural guidance to our own Drawing Office
Duites and Responsibilities
Produce calculations and designs and sign off on projects
Liase with and where necessary, attend meetings with clients, Engineers,
Architects and Contractors.
Liase with external drawing offices to ensure they interpret your designs
correctly
Provide technical assistance and support to our in-house drawing offices
The Candidate
Candidates must be self-motivated and posses an ability to operate in a
practical design office environment. They will require good written and
verbal communication skills and have the ability to convey information to third
parties. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential to fulfill this
role, together with the ability to produce high quality work to tight
programmes.
The successful candidate will preferably have a degree in Structural Engineering
and posses 2 or more years experience of workign in a Structural Design office,
preferably in that of a steel fabricator. A good working knowledge of the
British Standards and Codes of Practise for structural steel design and the
familiarity of CAD methods are essential.
